Sharing healing: The AIDS challenge.

"Sharing is but one of the four guiding principles of the original people of this island. The sharing of healing ways through communication with and support of each other is a way for the people to honour the Creator's gift.

The four sacred Medicine Wheels are communicating with and lending their support to the helpers and the person who is dressed in green, needing that healing. This relationship shows the people the importance of communication and sharing of knowledge and understanding.

Significantly, the four Medicine Wheels, the four helpers, and the person who is sick are each a part of the Healing Circle. The four colours represent the four colours of human beings and their original instructions given by the Creator. All people are subject to disease and have been given the knowledge of healing. The differences lie in the approach to healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

If we think back in our own history, we will remember the diseases which harmed First Nations people. Tuberculosis is one such disease. It caused the deaths of many ancestors and also created a great fear amongst the people. Today the disease is AIDS - tomorrow it will be something different. The sharing of healing should not be directed by personal fears or issues but rather by the need of the person who is afflicted with illness or disease. He or she is the reason the sacred Medicine Wheels communicate with and support the helpers."
