Respect is healing

"Respect: your body, those with HIV/AIDS, people's choices. Respect yourself. Honour our people. Stand as one nation against AIDS. The B.C. Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Program of the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, is funded by the Aboriginal Health Division of the B.C. Ministry of Health. 'Elders represent the Northern part of the Medicine Wheel, the dawning place of true wisdom. Our elders, teachers of intellectual gifts who signify the ability to: solve problems, understand, remember, and to interpret hidden meanings. This is achieved by discipline, as a runner can be disciplined, learning tremendous endurance. And so the mind can be trained until it becomes a gifted tool. All can acquire gifts, however they do not come automatically or even easily. Our elders are wise, strong, have earned our respect and are our teachers. (Pg63) 'The Sacred Tree", 1985.
